The American Fidelity Securities firm is planning to meet with all Alabaster School System employees to explain changes to the school system’s supplemental benefit program, company representatives said during a special-called May 30 Alabaster School Board meeting.
The School Board voted unanimously during the meeting to hire American Fidelity as the school system’s supplemental benefit provider for the upcoming school year. Through the contract with Alabaster City Schools, American Fidelity will handle ACS employee benefits – such as financial investing options – above the standard benefits offered by the school system.
“In our first year of operation, we kept the benefits provider that was in place with Shelby County,” Alabaster School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said during the meeting. (American Fidelity is) certainly a group a lot of people depend on, and they are dependable.
“I know the quality of their services personally. They worked with me in two school systems previously,” Vickers added.
American Fidelity Regional Manager Paul Dunlap said the firm is preparing to meet with all ACS employees to address changes between the current supplemental benefits provider and American Fidelity.
“We will meet with every employee so they will know what is changing and what they need to do,” Dunlap said.
