Alabaster’s Liberty Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate with the community during a May 31 event at the church.
The event, which will be themed “Connecting” and is open to everyone in the community, will feature activities, music, refreshments, car washing, health screenings and many other activities.
Shernavian Vandiber, the church’s pastoral aide, said the event was planned around the Bible verse Psalm 133:1, which states “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.”
“It’s just an outreach of the church,” Vandiber said during a May 15 interview. “We try to minister to the community in as many ways as we can.”
Vandiber said the event also will feature free giveaways of items ranging from household goods and clothes to books and more.
Vandiber said church leaders also will ask event attendees what they would like to see in the community, and will pass the information along to city leaders.
“This is the third event we’ve had. We just want to offer this to the community,” Vandiber said.
Liberty Missionary Baptist Church is at 306 Arrington Avenue in Alabaster.
