This springtime event is always anticipated by the community and when the carnival lights of the carnival’s Bullet and the Tilt-a-Whirl light up the nighttime sky, families flock forth to enjoy.
Almost one-third of this year’s proceeds of $13,105 was raised by the Silent Auction, spearheaded by Wendy Woods and Donette Worthy, Room Mom Coordinators for the auction.
Two classes are paired together to recruit donations to put into one auction item.
“People are very generous and open-hearted when it comes to donating items for the auction,” said Rebecca Henderson.
What was not to love and want?
A child-sized Ice Cream Cart that also included sundae dishes, scoops, bowls, syrups, gummy worms, rainbow sprinkles, cherries and a Publix gift card was colorfully and tastefully appealing.
Other items included a Husky Pride (blue) spool table hand-painted by K. Sciarrota; a Family Night Out package with gift cards from Olive Garden, Dairy Queen and The Egg & I; Golf rounds at Riverchase Country Club and a Godiva Chocolate Basket containing coffee, candy and truffles surely found good homes.
“Despite the weather, this year’s Spring Fling was a huge success. We are thankful for all who came out to enjoy the fun,” Kristie Childers, co-PTO president for 2013-14 with Stacy Snyder, said. “We greatly appreciate our local patrons, room moms and parents for donating items to our silent auction during Spring Fling.”
“We are excited to report the funds raised from Spring Fling and other fundraisers were used to equip every classroom with state-of-the art Smartboards and technological tools and supplies,” she said. “We were also able to install a much-needed drainage system on our playground and make equipment improvements.”
“We are blessed by the unyielding dedication of our parents, teachers, administration and community. Their valued support has made this school year a complete success!”
