PELHAM—Pelham experienced two road closures when a train collided with a passenger vehicle around 10:21 a.m. April 21.
According to Pelham Police Sergeant Jeff Smith, the crash was caused when an “impatient man” attempted to cross the tracks after one train had passed, not noticing a second train.
The train hit the back of the passenger at about 35 miles per hour, Smith said.
According to the Pelham Police department, no injuries were sustained. However, Highway 52 between Highway 31 and Creekview Plaza and Lee Street between Highway 52 and Mi Pueblo Supermarket remained closed for several hours until a new crew came to move the train, Smith said.
Smith said the collision has been “all cleared,” and the roads are open again.
