Those who enjoyed the Thompson High School band’s halftime show during the 2013 season had a chance to see some of the best performers in Alabama, a recent statewide competition confirmed.

The THS majorettes, who are sponsored by THS teacher Zandra Morris, competed in the state championship on March 8, and earned first-place honors, as well as some individual performance awards. As a result of their performance, the majorettes were named the 2014 Alabama high school majorette champions.

In the solo performance division of the competition, THS majorette Emily Patterson placed first in the state, and Amber Blackerby won second place.
