CHELSEA — A Pell City man died in a single-vehicle wreck just north of Chelsea March 14.
Derek Jason Ham, 42, was traveling on Shelby County 43 four miles north of Chelsea when his 1992 Jeep Cherokee left the roadway and struck a tree at about 4:25 p.m. March 14, said Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett in a news release.
Ham’s three-legged brown and white dog sustained injuries in the crash. The dog was picked up by a bystander and taken to Chelsea Animal Hospital, where it later died, Jarrett said.
Jarrett released no further information as state troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
