HOOVER — The 10th annual Brenda Ladun Conquer Cancer Run, is set for 8 a.m. March 1 at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen.
Though online registration ended at 3 p.m., Feb. 27, race day registration is set for 7 a.m. March 1 at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen, said Kristin Berney, community events specialist for the American Cancer Society’s Mid-South Division. Ladun, a television news anchor with ABC 33/40 and a two-time breast cancer survivor, hosts the run in partnership with St. Vincent’s Health System.
The run, which includes a timed 5K race and a one-mile fun run, raises money for cancer research and patient support groups.
“Over the past 10 years, we have raised a little more than $750,000 for cancer research,” Berney said. “We appreciate everybody’s support.”
St. Vincent’s One Nineteen will offer free blood pressure screenings, skin cancer screenings, vision screenings, massages for runners and physical consultations as part of the event, as well as $99 mammograms. Free food and giveaways from vendors also will be available.
The 5K and one-mile fun run will be followed by a post-race party and awards ceremony beginning at 9 a.m., and a survivor celebration and balloon release at 9:45 a.m.
Race packet pick-up will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen. Packet pick-up will resume at 7 a.m. March 1 at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen.
