Norfolk Southern will close a railroad crossing on Shelby County 17 between Alabaster and Montevallo on Saturday, Feb. 15, according to a sign posted at the crossing.

According to a post on the city of Alabaster Facebook page, the crossing on Shelby County 17 just north of Shelby County 12 will be closed on Feb. 15. According to the post, Alabaster Public Works employees noticed the closing sign at the crossing on Feb. 14.

“We do not have a time frame provided by Norfolk Southern, unfortunately,” read the Facebook post.

During the closures, traffic will be detoured down Shelby County 12, back to Alabama 119, down Shelby County 26 and back to Alabama 119.
