High school senior student-athletes from across Shelby County put pen to paper Feb. 5, as they signed letters of intent to play their respective sports collegiately. They are, as follows:

CALERA

The Eagles kicked off the day at 11 a.m., with three football players inking letters to play. Ronnie Clark agreed to play for the University of Alabama, Jordan Bishop signed with Birmingham-Southern and Tyler Harrell signed with Tennessee Tech.

OAK MOUNTAIN

Six Eagle seniors cemented their plans for the future at a 2 p.m. ceremony in the school’s cafeteria. Goalkeeper Mark Green signed with the University of Mobile, while Brad Louis, Keegan McQueen, Stephen Carroll and Patrick Carroll all agreed to play for the University of West Alabama next season. Football standouts Chris Johnson and Andrew Adams signed with the State University of New York at Albany and Birmingham-Southern.

SPAIN PARK

The Jaguars boasted 18 combined signees in eight different sports. In football, Dalton Brown signed with Newberry College, Phillip Brown with Tuskegee, Devin Pughsley will suit up for the Kennesaw State Owls and Jervontius “Bunchy” Stallings agreed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats.

In baseball, Matt Berler signed with Meridian Community College as did Josh Rich and Tristan Widra signed with Samford.

Softball players Brittany Anderson and Marisa Osga signed with Central Alabama Community College, while Haleigh Sisson signed with UAB.

Swimmers Will Freeman and Maddie Wolfarth will attend the University of Alabama and the College of Charleston, respectively.

Track stars Alison Halpern and Ireland Shea will take their talents to Anderson University and Alabama, respectively.

In golf, Connor Smith will attend Middle Tennessee State and Vasili Kartos signed with Southern Miss.

Denise Newton agreed to play basketball for Gadsden State Community college.

Lacrosse star Christen Craig will attend Tusculum College in the fall.

BRIARWOOD

The Lions’ National Signing Day festivities saw seven seniors ink letters of intent. Baseball standouts Jack Bracewell and Brayden Housel sign with East Mississippi Community College and Birmingham-Southern, respectively.

Jacob Laatsch signed a letter of intent to take to the basketball court next season in a University of West Florida Argonauts’ jersey.

Soccer star Claudia Day signed with Wake Forest, while fellow soccer playmaker Salvatore Cuneo will play for Eastern Nazarene College.

Morgan Reed will continue her career in South Bend, Ind., as she signed to play softball for the Notre Dame fighting Irish, while javelin specialist Will Edwards signed a scholarship for track from the University of Alabama.

KINGWOOD

Two of KCS’s gridiron greats sealed their collegiate futures on Feb. 5; C’Yontai Lewis agreed to play for Coach Will Muschamp at Florida, while Montez Haynes signed with Campbell University.

THOMPSON

The Warriors saw five athletes sign. In track, Michael Johnson signed with the University of Montevallo, Erika Kulp signed with Troy, Jaalen Jones with the University of Miami, while football star Eric Reeves signed with Faulkner to play on Saturdays for the Eagles, while teammate Jacob Allen chose to play at Miles College next season.

CHELSEA

The Hornets had 10 seniors sign letters Feb. 5. Volleyball player Chelsea Tyson signed with Faulkner State Community College, while softball stars Joslyn Johnston and Maygen Boaz-Jeffords both signed with the University of Mobile. Baseball players Casey Ballenger, Patrick Castillo, Landon Wylie and Hunter Howard all agreed to play for Huntingdon, Lawson State, Marion Military and Christian Brothers, respectively. Troy Marshall will become a Murray State Racer, while Will Bevill will play soccer for Itawamba Community College. Soccer star Britne Holderby agreed to play collegiately for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
