The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released the following alert at 1:39 p.m.:

The roads and highways in Shelby County continue to worsen and many are impassable due to icing. Many roadways are blocked in Shelby County due to cars blocking the road that have been abandoned by their drivers. Both of these problems are making it difficult for first responders to get where they need to go.

Residents should not attempt to drive on roadways until they improve.

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies are responding to emergency calls as fast as possible. All other calls are being held until regular operations resume.
