Calera man sentenced to 10 years in prison for Tenn. home invasion, shooting

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. — A Calera man charged as an accomplice in a 2007 home invasion and shooting of an elderly woman has been sentenced to 10 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
According to The Leaf-Chronicle, Kyle William Swim, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated robbery for his part in the November 2007 home invasion of Elke and Jon Gilreath.
Swim and another man, Robert Anthony Fusco, carried out a plan to hide in the Gilreaths’ home, kidnap them and rob their jewelry business. When Fusco was discovered in the home, he shot Elke Gilreath in the hand and chest.
Swim later testified at Fusco’s trial. Fusco was found guilty and sentenced to 65 years in prison.
