Members of Pelham’s newly appointed Board of Education won’t waste any time getting to work after they are sworn in during a Dec. 3 ceremony at Pelham City Hall, said School Board member Paul Howell.
“We were trying to set a meeting as soon as the swearing-in was over,” Howell said on Nov. 26.
The new school board has scheduled its first meeting for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in the conference room at City Hall. The conference room is near the back of the building on the upper floor, and regularly houses City Council work sessions.
During the Dec. 4 meeting, Howell and his fellow School Board members Angie Hester, Brian Long, Dr. Barbara Regan and Rick Rhoades will begin planning the process of negotiating a separation from the Shelby County School System, Howell said.
“This will strictly be an organizational meeting,” Howell said.
