VINCENT – A 2-year-old was killed in Vincent Oct. 28 after a car ran off the road and overturned. The driver, his mother, was also injured and taken to UAB Hospital.

Brooke Smith, 22, of Vincent, was driving a 1992 Oldsmobile Delta on Shelby County 57 in Vincent when the vehicle ran off the road at approximately 2 p.m. Oct. 28, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Robyn Bradley Litchfield.

The car overturned in a ditch, and Smith’s son, 2-year-old Larry Abbott, who was a passenger, was ejected, Litchfield said. Seat belts were in use, according to the accident report.

Litchfield said investigators would continue to investigate the accident.
