MONTEVALLO – The fall Art Walk is traditionally the most well-attended of the year, and this year’s was no exception. Art Walk, which was held Oct. 26 on Main Street in downtown Montevallo, showcased more than 85 artists and vendors, more than any other Art Walk to date.

And the artists weren’t the only ones whose creative juices were flowing. Those in attendance were asked to dress up in costumes.

Leanne Pearce Reed dressed up like Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter, while her two sons, Thomas and Adam, dressed up as Harry Potter and a pirate.

Cassie Swindle dressed as “The Avengers” villain Loki, while Josh Beard dressed as Captain America.

Siblings Jacob, Katie and Elizabeth Ozley dressed as an alien, Hermione from Harry Potter and a ladybug.

Even the artists participated. Lyndsay Lowrey and Susan Sabia, who shared an artist’s booth, dressed as a lion and a princess.

Janice Bellows, an artist who showed jewelry, didn’t dress in costume, but she was excited about the atmosphere.

“I love the art community down here,” said Bellows, who shows jewelry across the southeast on behalf of her business, J Lurie Jewelry. “You can feel the difference when you’re in Montevallo. People appreciate what you do.”

Art Walk also showcased musicians, the Birmingham Ballet and fire dancers throughout the night. For more information about upcoming events, visit Montevalloartwalk.com.
