A Pelham mobile home company is working to vacate from its current location on city-owned property next to Pelham City Park, and is planning to move to another location elsewhere in the city.

During an Oct. 7 City Council work session, Pelham Mayor Gary Waters said the Gofourth Mobile Home dealership “has until (Oct. 15)” to vacate its current location off Ballpark Road next to City Park.

In 2011, Pelham leaders voted to purchase about 35 acres adjoining City Park for about $4.94 million. Included in the purchase were the Belle Vista Mobile Home Park and the Gofourth dealership, which fronts U.S. 31.

Waters previously said Gofourth is planning to combine with another mobile home dealership on U.S. 31 near the city’s southern boundary.

After the dealership vacates its current location, the city will work to dismantle the dealership’s sign on U.S. 31, Waters said.

Once the property is vacant, it will open the land up for future use by the city. Pelham also owns a former John Deere Landscapes building behind the Gofourth dealership, and Waters said it could be renovated to house Boy Scout troops and city sporting events in the future.

Since purchasing the Belle Vista Mobile Home Park in 2011, the park has generated about $53,000 per month for the city, which has helped to pay off the land’s purchase price, Pelham Finance Manager Tom Seale said previously.
