SBMC offering discounted mammograms Fridays in October

Alabaster’s Shelby Baptist Medical Center is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month by offering discounted mammogram screenings each Friday in October, and by sharing survival stories from several local leaders.
Shelby Baptist is offering $99 mammograms by appointment each Friday in October at the hospital off U.S. 31. To schedule a screening, call the hospital at 620-8008.
The hospital also is hosting a lunch and learn event on Friday, Oct. 11 to help spread the word about the importance of breast cancer awareness.
The lunch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in conference rooms B and C in the SBMC Physician’s Center, and reservations are required. To RSVP for the limited-seating lunch, call 620-8087 or email ann.payton@bhsala.com.
The lunch will feature personal stories of breast cancer survivors Carol Bruser of Leadership Shelby County, Dr. Kathryn Clary of SBMC, Montevallo Mayor Hollie Cost, state Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin and Mrs. Senior Shelby County Cindy Nicholson.
