The Columbiana Snipers captured the 2013 Alabama NSA 14U Softball World Series Championship in Boaz. The Snipers put together a 46-4-1 record, culminating with a 3-2 win in extra innings in the title game on July 20.
“We’re a league team,” said coach Nick Wells. “Instead of All-Stars, we played travel ball. We’re an 11-and-12-year-old team that played (an age bracket) up.”
The Snipers consist of Megan Pitts, Mimi Smith, Haley Horton, Dakota Wells, Heaven Rodgers, Ashlyn Ruston-Seale, Ashlyn Blankenship, Alexis Franklin, Kenyah Speigner and Katelyn Lucas. The Snipers are coached by Jeremy Wilson, Nick Wells, Michael Franklin and Wayne Horton.
In addition to the World Series, the Snipers captured the Southern NIT NSA Championship, the Final Freeze Tournament Championship, the Toys for Tots Tournament Championship and were runners-up in the South Shelby Showdown and the June Jam tournament.
