An 18-year-old Pelham man is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $135,000 after he was arrested on Aug. 6 and charged with nine counts of disseminating or displaying child pornography.

Fernando Garcia, whose address was listed in the 3000 block of Carroll Street in Pelham, was arrested by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, according to Shelby County District Court records.

According to court records, the date of the alleged offense was July 7.

The case is being handled by Shelby County Judge Dan Reeves, and no hearing dates were listed for Garcia as of Aug. 7.

According to Alabama law, disseminating or displaying child pornography is a Class B felony. If convicted, Garcia could face up to 20 years in prison per charge.
