“The song is awesome! We’re even more excited about Pelhambration now that Pelham has its own city festival song,” I told Tyler Plemons.

“Good deal,” Plemons said. “I’m glad I could help.”

PHS Literary Magazine students created a commercial for the first Pelhambration. Without photos from a previous year, finding the perfect song was essential.

Plemons and his friend Brian Boss played the song “Pelham Days” at a pep rally a few years ago. The students created a fun Pelhambration commercial with Plemons’ song.

Currently, Pelhambration planning is in full press mode. On Saturday, July 13, the planning pays off when Pelham celebrates its first annual citywide festival.

What exactly is Pelhambration? Pelhambration is a city celebration. Pelhambration is a party—and we’re all invited.

A Kids’ Zone will feature face painting, a bungee trampoline, a dunking booth and lots of fun surprises. Special guests will include the PHS Panthers’ mascot Paws, Sparky the Fire Dog and Andy Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse to name a few. Ice skating for kids will also be free.

Entertainment for the entire family includes a magician, live music and other performers, including some of our own Write Night talent from PHS. Many Pelham restaurants will be on hand offering samples and food for sale. An array of Pelham businesses will be represented. In addition, all of Pelham’s schools with have information available.

PHS has more 50 volunteers signed up to insure that plenty of youthful energy is available for set-up, clean-up and other duties. If all of these perks aren’t tempting enough, the PHS Literary Magazine launches at Pelhambration. When our aged equipment prevented us from getting the magazine back before graduation, the editors decided that Pehambration would be the perfect premiere party for the 2013 Passage edition of the PHS Lit Mag.

Save the date and show up for the city’s best celebration. I hope to see you at Pelhambration on Saturday, July 13 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Check out Pelhamonline.com for a full list of Pelhambration activities, performers and vendors and see the Pelhambration Facebook page for the commercial at Facebook.com/events/157923457714043/?ref=22.
