MONTEVALLO— St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Montevallo is hosting their second annual Spirit of the Arts fundraiser on Saturday, July 13 at LeBaron Recital Hall on the University of Montevallo campus.
Spirit of the Arts begins at 5 p.m. and will help fund the multiple ministries and missions of the church, said Kevin Smith, event coordinator.
The night begins with a silent auction and hors d’oeuvres from 5-7 p.m. The auction will include items from local artists and craftsmen, Smith said.
The main stage performance begins at 7 p.m. and will showcase musical selections of Broadway through the decades. There will be music from Broadway shows starting in 1930 and proceeding through the shows of the modern day, Smith said.
The church was able to raise more than $2,500 in last year with 100 attendees.
“We wanted to do something unique to our church,” Smith said.
Dr. Jeff Walker is directing and the performers will consist of UM alumni and church choir members, Smith said. UM student Brent Mauldin compiled all the selections and is the music director.
“We have a strong connection to the university through our campus ministries,” Smith said. “We wanted to showcase the creative talents of our members and community.”
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling (205) 668-9192 or emailing spiritofthearts.montevallo@gmail.com.
