Bolden 5th

Johnathan and Rachel Bolden will have been married for five years on June 21, 2013. They plan to have a quiet candlelit dinner as they return to the site of our honeymoon in Destin, Fla.

Johnathan is the son of William and Barbara Bolden of Montevallo. Rachel is the daughter of James and Alma Archie of Clanton. Johnathan is an employee at L’Hoist of North America. Rachel is an employee at Chilton/Shelby Mental Health, while studying for her BSN at ITT Tech of Bessemer. She will pursue a career as a home health RN. “My husband encouraged me to continue my childhood dream of becoming a nurse, after I wanted to give up because of my sickle cell anemia pain. He is my angel and my inspiration. I thank God for every moment I have been blessed to spend with this wonderful man.”

“Johnathan accepted my son, Micheal, and my daughter, Destynee, into his life knowing all three of us are suffering from sickle cell anemia. I knew that he was taking on a lot. Still, he got right in the boat with me and fought the tides that came. With each two week hospital stay, with each E.R. visit, with each at-home pain crisis, he was right by our side. I remember when we were two weeks away from our wedding day and both of my kids were admitted into Children’s Hospital. I was told that my son may need surgery and I just wanted to give up. I didn’t know what to do. I considered calling the wedding off to a later date, but Johnathan said he was going to marry me even if we had to do it down in the lobby of Children’s Hospital. I knew then that God had truly sent me a soldier. He said he would love me through it all and he did. God healed my children and we got to come home four days before the wedding date. God is good! I could never have imagined I would be so blessed to marry someone so special. He also blessed me with two more beautiful daughters, Chanathan and J’Karia. I could not ask for more. We are looking forward to the coming years being even more blessed. This truly is a God-sent love.”
