HARPERSVILLE – Shelby County’s Stone Hollow Farmstead will host its inaugural Dinner at the Farmstead June 15.
Founder Deborah Stone started Stone Hollow in 1999 with her husband and daughters and began a collection of businesses that sells the farm’s handmade products to local grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Piggly Wiggly and Western Supermarket in the Mountain Brook area. One of the businesses, the Pantry in Crestline Village, offers full meals in addition to the goat cheeses, jams and honeys sold to the stores.
“We want to show our clients the Pantry and the products that we make, but we also want to take them out to the farm and show them where the products come from,” Stone said.
The event, located at 2006 Dead Hollow Road North in Harpersville, will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a tour of the grounds that will show the plants, animals and workers that help make the products. Stone said she hopes the tour will provide “a good visual” for what happens at the farm.
An “animal meet and greet” will also occur during the first hour of the event.
“We have a lot of baby goats that the kids could pet and get to know as well as some baby Great Pyrenees and some young pot-bellied pigs,” Stone said.
After the tour, cocktails will be served with drink selections including lemon verbena (one of Stone Hollow’s home-grown herbs) margaritas, chocolate mint lemonade and lavender lemonade.
The main course of the dinner will be a cooked pig provided by guest chef Clifton Holt of Birmingham’s Little Savannah. The Pantry will supply the side dishes and desserts. Live music will be performed by Jonathan Dailey.
“It will be a lot of fun as a good date night or family night,” Stone said.
