Kids will get a free chance to cool off and start the summer on May 28, as the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena will hold an ice skating party to celebrate the city’s Children’s Summer Reading Program.

The free party will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at the Civic Complex’s main ice arena, and will be open to children of all ages, according to Pelham Public Library Director Barbara Roberts. Ice skate rental will also be free during the party, but participants are encouraged to bring socks to wear while skating.

The event will serve to kick off the Summer Reading Program, which will run from May 28 through July. No registration is required for the ice skating party, but registration for the Summer Reading Program will be available at the party.

Through the Summer Reading Program, which is open to children ages birth through rising sixth graders, kids can earn prizes by reading books over the next few months.

For more information on the reading program, call the library at 620-6418. To view a full calendar of summer events at the Pelham Public Library, visit Pelhamlibrary.com.
