Shelby County High School classes of 1960s are having their sixth reunion Saturday, June 15, at the Alabama Youth 4-H Center off Shelby County 28 outside Columbiana with the Class of 1963 celebrating their 50th reunion Friday, June 14. It promises to be a fun weekend reminiscing times gone by, sharing stories and renewing friendships.
Peggy Jones Lee, Class of 1963 chairman, has planned a great night starting at 6 p.m. with dinner at Bernie’s on Main Street in Columbiana. SCHS alumni Chuck King will take a photo of 1963 classmates on the steps of the Shelby County Museum before dark. Classmates are urged to bring memorabilia to Bernie’s that will be on display in the front of the restaurant. After dinner, the class will join the rest of the 1960’s classes and all who come to Columbiana’s Music on Main with the fabulous group “Back in Time” singing accapella — oldies but goodies of the era. Tickets are $25 per person payable to Kay M. Ray, SCHS Class of 1963. Send your check c/o Ray, P. O. Box 124, Wilsonville, AL 25186.
After a night of dancing at Music at Main, all classes of the 1960s will meet at the 4-H Center from 5–9 p.m. on Saturday. BBQ will be served with baked beans, cold slaw, dessert and tea.
A limited number of chicken dinners are available to those who request. Mac’s Tracks DJ will play music of the 1960s all night for friends to dance the night away. Tickets are $30/person, $50/couple. For information call Randy McDonald at 401-2067. Send your check by May 1, payable to SCHS 60th reunion, P. O. Box 511, Columbiana, AL 35051.
