Helena police are encouraging residents to call in any suspicious activity in the city’s neighborhoods after the department received a child abduction report on Feb. 27.
At about 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 27, the department received a call reporting a possible child abduction on Hollow Lane in Helena’s Plantation South subdivision.
“Officers and detectives immediately responded and initiated an investigation that lasted well into the night,” read a post on the Helena Police Department’s Facebook page. “After this thorough investigation, it was determined that no attempted abduction took place and we have no reason to believe there are any suspects in the area attempting to abduct children.”
Police are working to “maintain a visible presence in all neighborhoods” through its routine patrols, and are encouraging residents to call the police department at 663-6499 “if any suspicious vehicles are seen anywhere around children or acting suspiciously in any neighborhoods.”
“We work hard to protect our children, both at school (and) at home, and it’s with the help of our residents that we keep our city safe for them and everyone,” read the Facebook page.
