UM Social Work Club to host advocacy event

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo Social Work Club will host a film on human trafficking in the United States March 6.
The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium in Comer Hall on the UM campus.
A brief film, I-20: Sexual Slavery Superhighway, a documentary on the most-used highway for human trafficking in the U.S., will be presented by Alexa Likis-James of The WellHouse. A discussion will follow.
This event is free and open to the public. Licensed social workers may receive one free hour of continuing education for attending.
Based in Birmingham, The WellHouse, according to the website the-wellhouse.org, is “a non-profit, faith-based and Christ-centered organization devoted to the rescue and recovery of women who are being sexually exploited.”
