Thompson holds off Oak Mountain

The Thompson Warriors were able to withstand a third-quarter rally by the Oak Mountain Eagles to take a 43-30 Class 6A sub-regional victory Feb. 15 at Thompson High School.
The Warriors took a 22-11 lead at the half, but Oak Mountain responded in the third quarter with 13 points to cut the deficit to four, 28-24, headed into the fourth.
Thompson struck for their second 15-point quarter to quiet the Eagles’ rally.
Caleb Johnson led all scorers with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Marcus Lewis added 11 points with six rebounds.
Deshawn Giles led Oak Mountain with 10 points.
The Warriors will advance to the Class 6A Central Region semifinals where they will face Opelika Feb. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Alabama State University in Montgomery.
