The Kingwood Christian Lions maintained their No. 3 ranking in the Alabama Independent School Association division of the Alabama Sports Writers Association polls released Jan. 24.
The Lions (18-1) handled Bessemer Academy 83-47 in their only game of the week following the cancelation of the contest against No. 1 ranked Lee-Scott.
Vincent (18-5) and Shelby County (19-5) each held steady at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively in their classifications.
The Thompson Warriors (22-3) were the only county team to fall in the rankings. The Warriors went from No. 4 in Class 6A last week to No. 8 in this week’s poll following a 56-54 loss at Wetumpka Jan. 18.
The Coosa Valley Lady Rebels held on to their No. 7 ranking in the girls’ AISA poll. The Calera Lady Eagles (14-6) still picked up votes in Class 4A, but not enough to break into the top-10.
