Alabaster native Ashlee Stiglich became the second Thompson High School graduate in two years to captured the Miss Shelby County crown July 17.

The Vignette Club of Shelby County hosts the scholarship pageant each year as a means of raising money for the community and providing college funds for local students. The pageant is only open to Shelby County residents or students who attend school within the county.

Stiglich took home $2,550 in cash scholarships, a four–year $3,500 in–kind tuition scholarship to the University of Montevallo and a $4,900 scholarship to Jefferson State Community College.

Stiglich attends UM and aims to obtain a degree in elementary and collaborative education. She recently received her Nursing Assistant Certification and teaches dance.

One her way to the win, she also placed first in the swimsuit competition. Others who placed include first runner–up Haley Bagwell, second runner–up Amanda Burch, third runner–up Lauren Moon and talent winner Amanda Burch.
