Huge third quarter propels Thompson past Shelby County

ALABASTER – The Thompson Lady Warriors nurtured a narrow 9-point halftime lead into a 64-38 win over the Shelby County Lady Wildcats Jan. 10.
Thompson took a 34-25 lead after the second quarter and opened the third on an 18-0 run in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the second half. The Lady Warriors’ run was aided by five Shelby County turnovers. Thompson went on to score 28 points in the third to take a commanding 62-30 lead into the fourth.
Despite a running clock, Shelby County outscored Thompson 8-2 in the final quarter.
Kelsea Bivins led Thompson with 16 points and Deja Jeanpierre added 12 points. Janese Richardson scored 10 points for the Lady Warriors.
Kalen Starks led Shelby County with 15 points. Sara Nash finished with 10 points for the Lady Wildcats.
