HOOVER — A Greystone Elementary teacher has been named Hoover City Schools’ Elementary Teacher of the Year.

The system announced Jan. 8 that Dr. Sara Womack, a music teacher at Greystone, was chosen for the honor.

Womack, a 13-year veteran of teaching, has been with Hoover City Schools since 2006. She teaches music to students from kindergarten through fifth grade at Greystone, according to an email from Hoover City Schools.

“I feel that my greatest contribution in education is developing student leaders, which in turn inspires them to explore their passion and lifelong purpose,” Womack said in the email.

Jeff Johnson, a physics teacher at Hoover High School, was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Judy Davidson, an art teacher at Rocky Ridge Elementary School, was the Hoover City Schools elementary nominee for the JSU Teacher Hall of Fame.

Terri Adema, a life sciences teacher at R.F. Bumpus Middle School, was the school system’s middle school nominee for the JSU Teacher Hall of Fame.

Chad Cooley, an Advanced Placement English teacher at Hoover High School, was the system’s high school nominee for the JSU Teacher Hall of Fame.
