The Spain Park High School girls’ soccer team will be back to defend its Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A championship following a 1-0 win over Huntsville in the quarterfinals May 9.

Madeline Hughes lifted the two-time defending champions to a match with rival Hoover in the AHSAA Class 6 semifinals May 13.

Hughes accounted for the lone goal in the match for the Jaguars (23-3-1) with her blast with 24:30 remaining in the opening half.

The Spain Park defense and goalkeeper Schyler Arnold preserved the shut out in the second half.
