The Spain Park Lady Jags knocked off the Mountain Brook Lady Spartans 55-51 Dec. 7.

The Lady Jags (7-4) jumped out to a 22-7 lead in the first quarter, but Mountain Brook (9-1) chipped away at the deficit in the second. The Lady Spartans held Spain Park to just five points in the quarter for a 27-20 Lady Jags lead at halftime.

Spain Park extended their lead to 10 in the third and held off Mountain Brook in the fourth for the win.

Denise Newton led the Lady Jags with 16 points. Ashely Gaston scored 13 points and Victoria Baldwin added 11 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
