Montevallo freshman named NSCAA All-Region selection

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – University of Montevallo freshman Jade Pennock was named third team National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II women’s soccer All-Southeast Region following the announcement of the All-Region teams Dec. 4.
The All-Region selection is the third postseason honor for Pennock following the 2012 season.
Pennock became the first ever player in program history to earn a major Peach Belt Conference honor after being named the conference’s co-Freshman of the Year, along with UNC Pembroke freshman Rae-Shawna Campbell, during the conference tournament awards banquet Nov. 2.
Pennock was also named second team All-Peach Belt Conference following her freshman season.
A freshman from Pontefract, England, Pennock led the Falcons and was ranked 20th in the Peach Belt Conference with five goals scored from the midfield this season. Pennock, who started in all 18 games for Montevallo, also led the team in assists and was ranked 17th in the conference with 14 total points.
Pennock scored a pair of goals in her first collegiate game against Barry, including the game-winning goal. Her other three goals came against Peach Belt Conference opponents Georgia Southwestern State, Georgia College and Young Harris College.
The Falcons (7-9-2) wrapped up their season Oct. 30 with a 1-0 loss against Armstrong Atlantic State University, which entered the contest ranked No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II poll, in the Peach Belt Conference tournament quarterfinals.
