Pelham falls out of playoff contention following loss to Hoover

The Pelham High School baseball team dropped out of contention for an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoff bid following a 2-0 loss to Hoover in a Class 6A, Area 10 contest April 12.
The Panthers finished with six hits but couldn’t drive in a run. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers scored one run in the third inning and one run in the fifth inning to clinch the victory.
Pelham (23-12 overall, 1-3 in Class 6A, Area 10) had two chances to score runs, but couldn’t capitalize in either inning.
Tanner Jackson led off the fourth inning with a double to left field. Hunter Soleymani followed with a single to left field, but Jackson was thrown at home plate to end the scoring threat.
The Panthers had the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning before Reed Bright grounded out to end the inning.
Trevor Fitts started on the mound and took the loss after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on eight hits in a complete game.
