A jury Friday convicted Danniel Raynard Williams of attempted murder on a Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Bill Bostick said Williams was convicted of one count of attempted murder on Deputy Kevin Hand and one count of reckless endangerment for firing shots at Deputy James Sellers.
The incident occurred May 15, 2008, when the two deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a woman who was at the same house as Williams, then 19. As the deputies tried to get the woman into their patrol car, Williams ran from the scene and fired back three shots in the direction of the deputies.
Bostick said Williams would be sentenced at a later date.
