Detectives from the Alabaster and Helena Police Departments have made two arrests connected to more than 50 car burglaries in the two cities.
Brian Lee Taylor, 18, and an unidentified 14-year-old were arrested on Aug. 8.
“This investigation has led to the close of other cases in Hoover, Pelham and Trussville,” said Alabaster Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney. “The investigation is still ongoing, and we do anticipate more arrests. Scores of pieces of stolen property have been recovered by detectives.”
Police have recovered approximately $30,000 in stolen property.
Helena Capt. Tim Carter said the arrests were made because of the cooperation between departments.
“Helena and Alabaster Police Departments have always enjoyed a great working relationship,” Carter said. “It was evident that this case would have had an entirely different outcome without this spirit of cooperation.”
Taylor is being held at the Shelby County Jail. The 14-year-old is being held at the Shelby County Juvenile Detention Center.
