Briarwood Christian completes sweep of Talladega

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team completed a sweep of Talladega in Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 play April 8 following a 14-0 win over the Tigers.
The Lions (13-8 overall, 4-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) finished with three home runs in the victory.
Daniel Robert led Briarwood Christian at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. Robert drove in two runs and scored three runs in the win.
Matthew Furuto, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer and a stolen base. Logan Crook, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run.
Micah Hooper, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Robby Hale, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-2 at the plate.
Carter Tyra, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Cole Pearson finished 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run. Ben Craft went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run. Dan Thomas finished 1-for-1 and drove in a run. Harrison Foster and Kevin McKelvey scored one run each.
Will Brown started on the mound and earned the win after pitching three hitless innings with three strikeouts in three innings.
Barnes Bankston allowed just one hit with two strikeouts in one inning in relief. Cameron Adams closed out the game with two strikeouts in the final inning.
