Vincent opened the football season with a 22-6 win at home over Fayetteville on Friday night.
Juwan Rogers struck first for the Yellow Jackets with a 4-yard touchdown run. Michael Kelley connected with Brett Frizzell for a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter as Vincent increased the lead to 14-0.
Rogers returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown in the second half to cap the scoring for Vincent.
Vincent coach Dwight Spradley was pleased with the win. However, he felt the Yellow Jackets have room for improvement.
“We didn’t play very well and (Fayetteville) turned the ball over a lot,” Spradley said. “We got inside the red zone and we sputtered two or three times. We also had a couple of bad center to quarterback exchanges.”
The Yellow Jackets (1-0) open region play next Friday by hosting Hale County.
