AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo junior Brendan Ledgeway earned Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the second week in a row, marking the third time this season the Falcons’ goalkeeper has earned the weekly award.
Ledgeway has now earned the honor six times during the past two years following the announcement of this week’s award winners Oct. 15. The York, England native sealed the award with a pair of shutouts last week in Peach Belt Conference matches.
Ledgeway opened the week with his sixth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over visiting Georgia Southwestern State University in a conference match Oct. 10.
Ledgeway followed up the win over the Hurricanes with seven saves in his seventh shutout in the Falcons’ 1-0 win on the road at USC Aiken in double overtime in a conference match Oct. 13. The 6-foot-2 goalkeeper capped the week with two saves in a 1-1 tie with Mount Olive College in a non-conference match Oct. 14 in Aiken, S.C.
Ledgeway finished the week with 307 minutes in goal, nine saves, a 0.29 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. The Falcons’ goalkeeper leads the Peach Belt Conference with a 0.58 goals against average for the season and is currently second with a .818 save percentage.
Ledgeway has allowed just eight goals in the Falcons’ 14 matches this season, which places him third among Peach Belt Conference goalkeepers in goals allowed.
Ledgeway and his teammates will have a week-long break before returning to action Oct. 22 with a non-conference match against Concordia College of Selma at 7:30 p.m. at Varsity Field.
