Rebels finish runner-up in softball tournament

The Coosa Valley Academy softball team finished second in the “Battle of the Boneyard” tournament after winning three games March 11-12 at Ashford Academy.
Coosa Valley defeated Crenshaw Christian 10-2 in its opener.
Hannah Vick was in the circle and recorded six strikeouts. Sky Brasher led the Rebels by going 2-for-3 at the plate with an inside the park home run. Hannah Vick was 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles. Shelby Hurt added two RBIs. Amelia Ripley added a single. Hope Myrick was 1-3 at the plate with a triple and 2 RBIs.
The Rebels fell to Ashford Academy 8-3 in their second game.
Myrick pitched seven innings and recorded six strikeouts. Myrick was also 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Brasher once again led the Rebels in hitting with a 2-for-2 performance. Ameila Ripley, Kala Shaw, and Hannah Vick all added a hit.
In game three, Alyssa Holmes went the distance pitching to help Coosa Valley defeat Ashford Academy 8-7.
Holmes finished with 10 strikeouts.
Myrick finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Kaci Shaw hit a single and drove in two runs late in the game. Shelby Hurt went 2-for-3 at the plate. Vick added a single. Holmes was 1-for-1. Katelyn Bierely also recorded a single. Hannah Heath added a RBI on a fielder’s choice.
In game four, the Rebels defeated Abbeville in a 8-5 victory. Vick went the distance on the mound, striking out five batters. Hope Myrick led the way at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with two singles and a double. Kala Shaw was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Kaylan Rich added two triples and 4 RBIs. Hurt was 2-for-3 at the plate with a single and a double. Brasher was 2-for-3 with two singles. Vick, Bierely, and Holmes all added hits.
Ashford Academy beat Coosa Valley in the championship game 12-2.

The Rebels were led at the plate by Hurt, Brasher, Bierely and Holmes, who all had 1-for-2 performances.
