Falcons hosting “Dig Pink” match benefitting breast cancer research

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo volleyball team will host a “Dig Pink” match benefitting breast cancer research Wednesday, Oct. 17 against Stillman College at BankTrust Arena, marking the fourth consecutive year the Falcons have joined a national effort to battle the disease under head coach Katie O’Brien.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink clothing items during the match, which begins at 6 p.m.

The Falcons will be selling black t-shirts with inspirational messages in pink lettering on the front and back, respectively, before and during the match against the Tigers. The t-shirts go on sale Monday, Oct. 15 at noon in the cafeteria at Anna Irvin Hall. The t-shirts will also be on sale during the match at BankTrust Arena.

Short-sleeve t-shirts will be on sale for $10, while long-sleeve t-shirts will be available for $15. All money raised during the match will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA), headquartered in Birmingham. The volleyball team will also be honoring University of Montevallo faculty and staff members who have made the biggest impact on their lives before the match as part of faculty and staff recognition night. Faculty and staff members are also encouraged to wear pink.
