The Spain Park High School baseball team defeated Beech High School of Henderson, Tenn., 4-0 in its tournament opener March 14 at the Buccaneer Classic at Hoover High School.

The Jaguars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning in the victory.

Paul Angel led Spain Park (13-5) at the plate as he finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Carter White finished 1-for-4 and scored a run. Mikey White went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Alex Close, who finished 1-for-2, drove in two runs. Austin Walker finished 1-for-2.

Hunter Hall started on the mound and earned the win after giving up only two hits with six strikeouts in six innings.

Austin Veteto gave up only one hit in one inning in relief.
