HOOVER — The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission approved preliminary plans for a new 28-lot subdivision off Doug Baker Boulevard during its Oct. 8 meeting.

Matt Golab of InSite Engineering, who represented D.R. Horton at the meeting, said the lots in the new Hunter’s Gate subdivision would be 60 feet wide and 120 feet deep. The homes would have a range of 1,600 square feet to 2,200 square feet of living space, Golab said.

Golab said he didn’t know the proposed price range of the homes.

The Hoover City Council must next give approval before D.R. Horton can move forward with the plans.

“They’re looking to begin construction immediately once they get the approval from the city council,” Golab said.

Depending on weather conditions, it could take anywhere from six to nine months for the homes to be constructed, he said.
