COLUMBIANA — The youth at Columbiana United Methodist Church need your recipes.
Kimco Kids — Kids in Mission Christian Organization — at the church are putting together a cookbook, proceeds of which will help fund a new playground at the church, as well as a donation to the Columbiana area Relay for Life.
The books will be dedicated to those who have or are battling cancer, including Kimco founder, the late Jane Cox.
“Jane lost her battle with cancer in 2009. She had such a huge heart for missions and established our program here. She fought a really hard battle and we want to do something to remember her,” said Angie Nash, who works with the Kimco group at Columbiana UMC.
“We are looking for all kinds of recipes — meats, appetizers, salads, breads and desserts, of course,” Nash said.
“We would love for people to submit recipes in memory or honor of cancer survivors or someone who has lost their battle with cancer,” she said.
Deadline for submitting recipes is Oct. 19. Recipes can be emailed to ColumbianaCookbook@gmail.com or they can be mailed to Angie Nash at 103 Ferry Road, Columbiana.
“We are really shaking a leg to get everything submitted so we can have the cookbooks back before Christmas,” Nash said.
She emphasized that the cookbook project is not simply a project of Columbiana United Methodist Church, but one that is open to the entire community.
“We’ve had recipes from Wilsonville and other places. Anybody can submit a recipe,” she said.
