Vincent wins homecoming game, 46-14

VINCENT-Vincent High School defeated Talledega County Central 46-14 on Sept. 28 at Vincent. It was homecoming for the Yellow Jackets.
“Kids played a good game,” Vincent coach Zeb Ellison said. “It was a very clean game. I was very proud of them.”
Junior running back Rodney Groce led the Yellow Jackets with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries while junior running back Ryan Kelow added 114 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
Kelow scored the first points for Vincent with a 17-yard run in the opening quarter. Senior quarterback Damauntey Johnson added a one-yard run later in the first.
Groce added a one-yard run in the second. Vincent’s defense got in on the scoring when Kelow recovered a Talledega fumble and raced 40 yards for a touchdown. Johnson added another touchdown run this time from eight yards out to put the Yellow Jackets up 33-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Johnson threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Quartez Walker. Kelow added a 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to end the scoring for the Yellow Jackets.
