Spelling bee winner

Juan Jose Campos, a seventh-grade student at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School (OLV), won the school spelling bee Jan. 12, and will represent the school in the Shelby County Spelling Bee. Classmate Albert Dascher, also a seventh-grader, was the runner-up. OLV contestants who won their homeroom bee and advanced the overall school bee were: third-graders Peter Rauterkus, Anna Lancaster, Samuel Dieguez-Marino and Ryan Wozniak; fourth-graders Danielle Russell, Burke Smith, Michael Pillitteri and Nicky Portante; fifth-graders Reagan Harris, Christina Till, Evan Dascher and Patrick McGuire; sixth-graders Nicole Bernal, Elizabeth Matta, Rachel Cartwright and Anna Portante; seventh-graders Albert Dascher, Nikki Panzica, Juan Jose Campos and Jack Christensen; and eighth-graders Lauren Jennings, Casey Young, Marty McGuire and Joey Portante.
