MONTEVALLO — Cynthia Shackelford, the University of Montevallo’s director of public relations, is in a stable condition after being hospitalized Feb. 27 due to a stroke.

According to UM’s president, Dr. John Stewart, Shackelford is currently in intensive care at UAB.

Shackelford is a long-time employee of the university and a beloved member of the community, Stewart said.

“She’s a true professional,” he said. “In good and tough times she handles our external relations with a great deal of warmth and professionalism. The whole Montevallo family is keeping her in our prayers for a fast return to campus.”
