COLUMBIANA — On Saturday — the first official day of the fall season — the Shelby Humane Society hopes to find homes for 75 of Shelby County’s animals in need at its “Fall for Me” Mega Adoption event.
Last winter’s mild weather has meant a tremendous escalation in the shelter’s animal population. On Saturday, the Society’s staff and volunteers will man the shelter, located at 381 McDow Road in Columbiana, from noon to 10 p.m.
The event will feature all of the day’s college football games on television, as well as refreshments, like shaved ice — and lots of cats and kittens and dogs and puppies who want to be your new best friend.
