COLUMBIANA – The sights and aroma of fellowship and freshly made pancakes will waft from Columbiana United Methodist Church Sept. 30 as the men’s ministry raises money to renovate the church’s playground with a fifth Sunday breakfast.
A group of about 12 to 15 men meet every Monday morning to fellowship, cook their own breakfast and have a devotion.
“It’s a good group of Christian men who get together for Christian fellowship,” Evan Majors said.
The group lends a hand to those in need, whether they’re church members or not.
“We have various projects to help individuals who need help, such as building a ramp for someone who needed a ramp at their house,” Majors said.
The fifth Sunday breakfast is the next project for the men.
“We’re going to try something a little different,” Majors said.
The breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs and more will start before the contemporary worship service, which begins at 9 a.m.
Instead of charging a set amount, Majors said attendees can contribute what they wish.
“We’re just going to put the basket out and hope people feel generous and make a nice donation,” he said.
Majors said the food expense will be covered by the men’s fellowship group, so all donations will go directly to the youth program to renovate the playground in front of the church.
